Welcome

WELCOME! I make handmade Kusudama origami paper flower bouquets and other items.

Kusudama origami originated from ancient Japanese culture. It is not exact origami as the units are fused together, but it is still respected as an ingenious traditional paper folding craft in the origami family.

Hashing out Purple and Turquoise.

OK, so I have been very neglectful of this blog. Mostly due to the first few weeks of school bringing in a ton of extra chaos into my home.

I also felt I didn't really have much to say as I wasn't working on any orders currently and didn't feel I needed to rehash my old flowers yet again.

I'm so happy about this though. The quiet dip in flower activity couldn't have come at a better time. I was able to really focus on getting my kids back into the school routine... And me too honestly!

Now I'm ready for an order, and wouldn't you know, one has come to me. I still can't believe how wonderful this has all worked out. I couldn't have planned it better if I was actually planning it!

So now I have a new order in the works. I'm going to split the order into bouquets to start, and then boutonnieres and corsages later. This way it's easier on the customer to purchase. It also allows me to just focus on one thing at a time.

***January wedding!***
Her colors are:
Purple
Turquoise
White
with Black as an accent

Both bride and I spent several days looking for bouquet pictures to show feel, look, and color placement. I like to know we are both on the same page before I get started. It was a lot of fun to see what she had come up with.

**The bridal bouquet will be mostly white and turquoise with just a hint of black to make the colors stand out.

These are the pictures that I will be working from that she and I both found.

**Bridesmaids will be mostly purple with hints of white.

Something a little like this:

I'll be using same color middles for all of the flowers. She would like the paper to be varied shades with subtle patterns so there is not just one solid block of color. This will add a softness to the flowers and really make the bouquet flow well.

I'm going to experiment with some black edging on these. I have done it in the past and I love the look, but I'm not sure if she will like it, or if it will add too much black. If I can find the right inks, I have thought about doing a purple on purple or turqouise on turqoise.

I have a lot of other great ideas for these, but I think I'll leave those to show later. I'll also leave the boutonniere ideas for later as well.

I hope to get started shopping for materials early next week and I'll post some pics of those as soon as I get them!
